Maximus

Occasionally, we at Happy Dog DNA get asked if DNA testing really works. Sometimes a customer doesn't have any idea what their mixed-breed mutt is but we have many, many stories of happy customers who know what one breed is but aren't sure of the others. Here is another story that confirms that the results are indeed accurate. Thanks to Jenesa for sending Max's photos and sharing his story.

Hi,

We just got our DNA results for Max and boy were we surprised! We adopted Max from a shelter when he was just 8 weeks old. We already knew he had schnauzer in him because we saw his mom, but we were told that his dad was probably a Labrador Retriever. We thought it was likely since he has such big feet and a long tail. We were shocked to find out that he actually has no lab in him, but he's part bulldog! After reading the summary of the Bulldog breed, we knew it was absolutely right because of some personality traits he has. He is such a great dog, really smart, and we love him! Here he is at 8 weeks old, and then at 6 months old.

Rocky And Lucky

Check out this cute photo of Rocky and Lucky. They look like good buddies.

A note from their owner:

Rocky (L) and Lucky (R) were adopted from a shelter. They are terrific companions and wonderful pets. Having previously owned a purebred Bichon, I was not surprised to see Lucky's results. Rocky was anybody's guess. I call him an Eskichooberrier.

We are delighted to know what their ancestry is and happy to share it with friends and family. By having their DNA analyzed we know which breed represents each hallmark trait or characteristic.

Thanks Happy Dog!

Sincerely
Karen

Lance

Here's another wonderful adoption story from Lance's owner, Erin:

This is my dog Lance, with before and after pictures of getting groomed [only one photo shown, Ed.]. I adopted him from a rescue 7 years ago. Even though he came with only one eye, it does not slow him down. I always knew he had dachshund in him and curious to know what he was mixed with. I was glad to find out he was also Lhasa Apso and Shih Tzu.

Timmy

Timmy's owner guessed Maltepoo but it turns out he's more Pomepoo...senji.

I just received the DNA results on Timmy and was very surprised. Five years ago I adopted this sweet adult dog and was told that he was probably a Maltepoo. Everyone who meets him either asks what he is or offers their opinion as to breed. I accepted that he was a Maltepoo but was still very curious. I was very shocked to see that he is Pomeranian, Poodle and Basenji with not Maltese in the mix. He's a very sweet tempered, loyal, loving dog. What the picture doesn't show is if I don't keep him clipped his fur will grow out and reach the floor (that's why we thought Maltese).

Thank you very much!

Valerie (and Timmy)
